CLASS ORGANIZATION 2020-2021
In the next few weeks, staff will begin the process for the formation of class lists for the 2020-2021 school year. Given the parameters in which we have to work as determined by registration numbers and ministry and board directives, our goal is to establish balanced classes, providing effective groups which will benefit all children.
In forming classes, including combined grades, Teachers meet to carefully consider the following factors:
- Individual student learning profiles, styles and needs
- gender balance (male/female ratio)
- social, emotional, behavioral and physical needs of students
- Special Education or ESL needs
- overall class dynamics – personalities & maturity levels
You can surely appreciate that creating the best and most effective groupings is a task requiring careful thought and planning. At this time, we are uncertain as to which teachers will teach a specific grade. Staffing decisions will not be finalized until the beginning of September.
If you feel strongly that there are extenuating circumstances not listed above, please write a letter to the principal’s attention by Thursday May 21st, 2020. Be aware that information included in your letter will be shared with the relevant teams of teachers preparing the lists for a particular grade level, however, this does not guarantee that your request can be honored. The final decision for student placement and school organization is the responsibility of the school Principal.
Requests for a specific teacher cannot be accepted and your letter will be returned to you.
Please note that due to the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act no student class lists will be available until the first morning of school, September 8th.
Thank you for your continued support.
It would be appreciated that you advise the office/email the Principal if your family is planning to move out of the St. Michael Catholic Academy boundaries or change schools. Thank you!
