Black History Month…and beyond

St. Michael Catholic Academy is proud to celebrate Black History throughout the month of February and beyond. As a community we will celebrate Black History Month by hosting a virtual special event on February 16th called the “Reading Rainbow,” and visits from a guest speaker. We will also be joining the YCDSB with tweets and website updates to celebrate some of the victories and achievements of our Black students and staff who are making a positive impact in our school and community. Students will also learn about Black history and experiences through a variety of classroom learning activities that explore the significant contributions that people of African descent have made throughout history and continue to make today. These events and activities aim to inspire understanding, hope and compassion.
